Talent kept in the dark about rumble announcement?

25 posts in this topic

wwe-womens-royal-rumble.jpg

According to a new report, the WWE roster didn’t know about Stephanie McMahon’s announcement of a Women’s Royal Rumble until it was made live on air.  Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that according to multiple sources, the women in the ring had no idea what McMahon was about to announce. This was done so that everyone’s reaction was authentic and geniune.

Only a handful of people knew what was about to happen, which did not include the production team. WWE was determined that the announcement would not get leaked out early.

Honestly I believe it and this would explain their reactions ranging between confusion and happiness.

Vince could have given them a heads up or written a better way to announce the match though.

What ?so what was the script for the girls? "tag match that ends in a brawl. Stephanie comes out and-"

This does kind of make sense, to be honest. I mean I think they probably heard word going around for a while but wasn't sure if they were going to actually pull the plug on it. Good for them it was probably such an emotional moment that they got caught up in the adrenaline and excitement and just broke character and embraced one another. :crying2:

Lol, literally every fan did when they saw they're in the main event, especially once Stephanie arrived. No doubt the girls did too.

assuming this is true, probably just a tag match :skull: I know that from what Eva said in her recent interview, they have the production team on ear so everything was probably improvised until Steph came out.

Again if true, it really does make the curtain call segment sweeter considering the history. They all probably had an idea (‘cept for Bayley, she seems a lil clueless xD) because they are that transparent nowadays :rot:

Would explain why the girls broke character and went from kicking each other's asses in a knock out-drag out brawl one moment to hugging and crying with one another in the next.

Speculation is one thing, knowing for a fact is completely different.

Ryan Satin was tweeting a week or so ago that he hadn't heard anything about a women's Rumble match (and even kinda downed on the idea, but that's another discussion) despite the fan speculation. Obviously, we all figured this year would give us the first women's Rumble match just from logical reasoning, but we need to remember that logical reasoning doesn't always dictate the moves in WWE. So I'm willing to accept this as gospel.

I didn't say they knew it as a fact but they definitely had it as the main idea of Steph's announcement.

There’s no source in the op, so take it for what it’s worth. It’s important to cite your work, kids!

That's why most had truly shocked faces and Paige started crying immediately.

But I am still mad at how poorly it was all executed. It was once again Stephanie going out there trying desperately to make it seem like she's this amazing feminist activist, using once again equality fight for a cheap pop. This is not getting things to the next level. This is pandering. Not to mention how dumb everyone looked in the end when they joined hands...they were trying to kill each other minutes ago.

Would have been so much better if Stephanie would come out while everyone was going ham on each other and was just like "Oh, you all wanna fight so bad? You'll get that chance at the first ever female Royal Rumble". That way she still would have  been the one introducing the match, history would have been made still and yet the women would have kept kayfabe. Not to mention it would have made it seem like the women actually evoked this stipulation with their work not that Stephanie and the rest of the management just decided to give them a X-mas present. Fuck I hate this company's management so bad! They are so transparent.

I fucking hate when they do this stuff with the girls. Like why do they have to bring them all out for stupid shift like this? Why are they having the girls celebrate together when there are feuds going on? I hate stuff like this.

That's why the segment came off so awkward.. Makes sense now.

Always let your talent know what's going on.

Kayfabe is dead. Social media made sure of that years ago.

Gotta roll with the times.
