WWE Reportedly Had Officials Overseas To Discuss A Potential NXT Japan

Earlier this week, WWE sent officials to Japan to speak with with different companies about business relations and opening the door for NXT Japan, according to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter. WWE heads to Japan a handful of times each year for live events and has already lured away some of its biggest stars in Shinsuke Nakamura, Asuka, Kairi Sane, and Io Shirai.

Over the last two years, WWE has built up NXT UK, pulling in the best talent from around the region. Last month, WWE not only had the brand's first live TakeOver in Blackpool, but also unveiled a UK Performance Center.

Earlier this week in an interview with The National, Triple H gave more insight into WWE's plan to continue doing this in other parts of the world.

"I can tell you there will be a performance center in India," Triple H said. "There will be a performance center in the Middle East. There will, more than likely, be a performance center in Latin America. We will be replicating this process around the globe, all over."

As WWE looks to bring in new stars, Triple H gave a thumbnail of what WWE's tryout looks like and how they will weed out the contenders from the pretenders.

"We will scour, we will go through those people, we will talk to them, we will whittle that down to the best of the best," Triple H said. "We'll bring them in to try out for us. They'll come in for a few days, we'll put them through some really hard stuff. But we're not just looking to wear them out physically because what we're looking for is, they wear down physically, we're looking for how they handle that mentally. What becomes of them? Are they leaders? When they get tired, do they help the person next to them? Or do they push the person next to them down, to try to succeed, themselves? It's all part of the process."

:beckytate: This global domination stuff is so, irritating. It's just too much, too many wrestlers waste away once they get to the main roster and I don't even know if getting to the main roster is the goal of creating these other territories. WWE creates too much content with little substance and it's exhausting. Who has time for another version of NXT?

The goal is the money, we should be very aware of that by now

They are legitimately trying to monopolize an entire sport and their product isn’t even consistently great for them to be feeling themselves like that. I don’t watch other promotions because I mainly just tune in for WWE out of habit but it really is unfair how they’re out here stopping bags for other promotions, not because they’re threatened but because they just want to.

It all just makes me pull for AEW to take off.

I barely watch The American and Uk shows, so I’m sure I’ll continue that same trend. Perhaps if Nose is so bored he could go out and hire some talented writers using half the budget.

I'd so be here for NXT Japan. In Japan, they usually keep men's wrestling and women's wrestling separate, so it'd be cool to see everything integrated.

I'm wondering if all of the international NXT's will be made available to everyone.

I'm not even going to watch NXT Japan. I am only interested in NJPW and not a NXT version.

I wonder what NJPW thinks about this.  I'm very curious to whether or not a Japanese NXT could be a huge threat to them. Especially considering how popular NJPW is right now. I'm just wondering how it will affect them, if at all.

I’ll try and give it a chance since I love Japanese wrestling but it’s gonna be hard to keep up with, it’s already hard to keep up with all the programming now.
