Premise | Socially awkward high school student Otis may not have much experience in the lovemaking department, but he gets good guidance on the topic in his personal sex ed course -- living with mom Jean, who is a sex therapist. Being surrounded by manuals, videos and tediously open conversations about sex, Otis has become a reluctant expert on the subject. When his classmates learn about his home life, Otis decides to use his insider knowledge to improve his status at school, so he teams with whip-smart bad girl Maeve to set up an underground sex therapy clinic to deal with their classmates' problems. But through his analysis of teenage sexuality, Otis realizes that he may need some therapy of his own.

Was kind of out of it back when it premiered so guess I missed it but I binged the last few days, and I feel like it's rare I get attached to a show this much this fast. I REALLY enjoyed it. Funny, real, wholesome, and I love the cast. 2020 needs to get here already so we can get S2 :shook:

The first season was so good, I loved most of the character development and probably teared up on a few occasions. I can't really say enough good things about it, and from an interview with Ncuti Gatwa, the writers were super determined to get so many things with his character's upbringing culturally correct and would ask him for input on how to make sure it was proper representation so kudos to them for actually listening.

I agree. And I've been watching a lot of videos of the cast, but I didn't know that! It makes me even more fond of the show. It's a great balance between being vulgar without being too much, being woke without being too overt, and being funny without just everything being a complete joke.

I also appreciated every joke likely only a Brit would get, it made me feel special. As someone who mostly watches American shows anyway, the whole Americanised John Hughes inspired aesthetic wasn't a problem for me and didn't take me out of it at all. I liked it, in fact.

Excited for Season 2!
I’m mostly keen to see how Eric’s story plays out, especially considering what happened at the end of S1 with him.

I wanted to spread my watch over time but out of fear of spoilers, I resolved to just get it done before the weekend was over and :crying:

It was a really solid season, I think. I liked how they focused on the parents and other adults as well, it made for an entertaining start to finish because there was so much going on rather than the kind of mid-season lull you can sometimes get. They managed to cover SO much stuff, a serve :shook:

Spoiler

The ending was so....... gfhvjvbjfdb. I never liked Isaac and felt guilty about it BUT I FUCKING KNEW IT ugh, tbh I'm not super into Otis and Maeve but this show is so good at making you care, if not earlier then definitely about the cliffhanger. The Breakfast Club with the girls coming together was probably my highlight. I loved Viv/Jackson's wholesome relationship also, that and the established friendships between Maeve/Aimee and Otis/Eric warm my heart. Mrs. Groff DROPPING that man was lowkey a moment too.

I'm iffy on how I feel about Eric and Adam, I can see both sides of why it is and isn't cute. I'd have said Eric deserved better but he did Rahim WRONG. Miss Sands deserved and can do better also!

Why couldn't this shit be 10 or 12 eps

Also, all the diversity and issues covered are GREAT but I hope they plan on delving deeper into characters like Anwar and his family, enlisting the help of the relevant voices ofc. Me waiting to find out Olivia was just the name she used to fit in and her real name was Olliyaval Kaur or something too

I really loved this season. I love how you they focused in more than 4 characters this time, even Jackson's storyline that I wasn't interested at all at first ended being one of the cutest :swing:

When after the first 2 episodes I was like damn Queen Aimee barely had lines can she have a storyline but then THAT happened. THAT WASN'T WHAT I WANTED

tenor.gif

Well but it ended being probably my fave storyline. The end of ep 7 :crying2:

This season was so good. The amount of shit they covered in just eight episodes is pretty astounding. I was so mad when I realized I was on the last episode :crying: Aimee’s storyline was so heartbreaking but the way they handled it was literally perfect. :smh2:

Eric... we’ll see you in court, girl

The way they wanted us to pity him for screwing up at work and acted like he did nothing wrong. How hard is it to close a door

LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOPFRGIODJFNJVK I was lowkey hoping for a tragedy ending where he commits s-word. He literally fucks everything up.

Spoiler

I AM SO MAD HE IS WITH ERIC! AND THEY DID THAT SHIT IN FRONT OF MY BABY RAHIM? I WAS SHAKING

"He can hold your hand now, but he won't catch you when you fall" Rahim dragged Eric's dumb ass! I hate this storyline, I hate how the gay always falls in love with the person who bullies them/puts them through so much trauma. It's so tired.

Finally checked this out and watched the pilot.

I like Gillian Anderson cosplaying as Emma Thompson and edgy bootleg Margot Robbie is so hot.

Finally finished Season 2! It was a great season. Episode seven was my favourite, all the girls coming together for Amy was heartwarming ❤️

It’s a cliche but they pulled it off well.

I stopped watching most shows I normally watch to binge the 2 seasons and I hope they are renewed for more.
