  2. Dr. Britt Baker recently spoke with Uproxx about criticism AEW gets for its women’s division. She says that the women’s roster took a hit during the pandemic because so much of the roster couldn’t return to TV. She also blames the lack of time and ratings on AEW not pushing for more women-oriented segments. She pleads with fans to stop changing the channel any time the women are on screen so that they can angle for more time. 3. AEW announced today that Nyla Rose has been suspended for her actions on last night’s Dynamite episode. Last night’s Dynamite episode saw Rose squash “The Librarian” Leva Bates, then attack her some more after the match. Shanna came out to make the save but Rose put the referee through a table, then powerbombed Shanna on top of him. AEW noted that Rose has been suspended without pay for the rest of the year. Their announcement on Twitter read like this, “BREAKING NEWS – As a result of her actions last night on #AEWDynamite, @NylaRoseBeast has been suspended without p
  4. Kris Statlander has reportedly signed with AEW, according to Jonathan Snowden of Bleacher Report. As noted, last night’s AEW Dynamite episode saw Statlander defeat #1 contender Hikaru Shida in singles action. Brandi Rhodes then tried to recruit Statlander into her Nightmare Collective stable, which also features Awesome Kong. As noted, a fan ran in from the crowd and wanted into the stable while Statlander hesitated. She turned out to be Chicago indie wrestler Melanie Cruise and as noted earlier, she has also signed with AEW. Below is Snowden’s confirmation on Statlander:
  5. During last night’s episode of Dynamite from Champaign, Brandi Rhodes and Awesome Kong attempted to recruit women’s division star Kris Statlander to their new Nightmare Collective faction when a mysterious woman appeared in the crowd, and offered herself as a member. Rhodes and Kong accepted her offer, and cut a piece of her hair in front of the live crowd, a ritual Rhodes has been doing for several weeks. The mystery woman has been revealed as indie wrestler Melanie Cruise, a former competitor for Rise wrestling and SHIMMER, who made her debut back in 2008. Cruise would later take to
  6. On tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite from Champaign, the camera cut to women’s division star Britt Baker sitting in the crowd while Nyla Rose was powerbombing a referee through a table. The spot was recreated from Baker’s accidental camera appearance during NXT Takeover WarGames, with commentary acknowledging her as NXT champion Adam Cole’s girlfriend. In a bit of good fun, AEW play-by-play man Excalibur repeated the phrase word-for-word. “That’s Adam Cole’s girlfriend.” Check it out below.
  7. On the most recent episode of “Conversations With The Big Guy”, Ryback gave his thoughts on why he believes the honeymoon phase is over for AEW: Source: https://www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2019/12/ryback-on-aew-honeymoon-period-being-over-663092/
  8. AEW is reportedly experiencing weak ticket sales for the upcoming Dynamite episode from Cleveland State University, which will be AEW’s debut in the Ohio market. Tickets went on sale this past Friday for the AEW Dynamite episode scheduled for January 29, 2020 at the Wolstein Center at Cleveland State University in Cleveland, OH. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Friday’s advance for the event was not strong, and that sales were not going good. The ticket website currently shows several seats available, ranging from $23 – $93. It looks like they sold out of t
  9. Big Swole has confirmed that she has signed with AEW. The news was confirmed in an interview with Fightful Select‘s Jeremy Lambert this past weekend at WrestleCade. Big Swole first appeared for AEW during the Casino Battle Royale at All Out back in August. She returned to the company this November for AEW Dark where she teamed up with Mercedes Martinez to take on Allie and Sadie Gibbs. After the match reports swirled around that she had signed with AEW, however neither company nor Big Swole commented on the situation. She continued to impress on AEW Dark over the past few wee
  10. Nyla Rose was recently a guest on “Ring The Belle”. During the interview, she was asked about the perception that AEW doesn’t book their women’s division well enough. She agreed that it could use work, but cautioned people to be patient. Here’s what she had to say: You can listen to the podcast below:
  11. AEW superstar Kenny Omega was recently appeared on the Wrestling Observer Radio where the Executive VP discussed the promotion’s women’s division that has drawn criticism from fans for not being featured enough. Omega explains that the plan now is to expose their audience to the Joshi wrestling-style that was made popular in Stardom, and has slowly been exposed in the U.S. thanks to stars like Io Shirai and Kairi Sane. He also promises that 2020 will be a bigger year for the division, as some bigger names are expected to join.
  12. Brandi Rhodes was asked over Twitter if she was the reason why Kylie Rae left AEW immediately after signing with the company. There was speculation that Rae had to retire from wrestling and that’s why she left AEW, but she’s been working indie promotions since leaving. This reply from Brandi Rhodes is the first official comment from anyone besides Rae and Tony Khan on the situation. According to Fightful, they’ve spoken to around 2-dozen wrestlers about it, but they couldn’t get a confirmed story from anyone. Khan described her release as “amicable.”

  14. AEW Dynamite has made its debut, and this is their official women's roster. Do you like it? Is it missing something? How does it compare to WWE and Impact women's rosters? Share your thoughts
  15. When AEW first formed, one of the key things that separated themselves was the open dialogue of diversity. People from all backgrounds were welcomed without question. People took notice, including Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. That opened the door Nyla Rose, one of the first openly transgender wrestlers for any major promotion. One of the top athletes on AEW TV, Rose has seen a lack of diversity in the wrestling industry. Now, things are starting to change. Speaking on the Women's Wrestling Weekly podcast, Nyla discussed how she (among others) has helped lead the way for cha

  17. Hello all, I’m just wondering if we will get a dedicated topic for AEW come October 2, when AEW rolls out to TNT (much like Raw/Smackdown has), and if there is enough interest, if it’s possible if we could also have AEW ppv chats as well? Though, with it being a new company and such there hasn’t been much need for this as of yet, but perhaps this could be the initial plea? 🤓 Please and thank you to whomever makes these decisions 💚👍

  19. As we all know, Nyla rose has won the women's casino battle royal and will go on to face Riho for the AEW women's championship. As Nyla is a trans-woman, this opportunity is historic and a huge progression for trans-women in mainstream wrestling. That being said, there has been mixed reactions on Nyla's performance and victory. While a lot of fans are proud and happy for her, a lot of online critics were not impressed with her wrestling (described as green and sloppy), and felt that she only won for the sake of representation. What are your thoughts on this? What are your thoughts on her perfo

  23. It was just announced that Allie is AEW bound. No word yet as to whether she'll be working both Impact and AEW or if she'll be transitioning over to AEW exclusively. I'm shook and hope she works with Impact at the same time. I like her and Rosemary together and there's still that ongoing battle with Su Yung for Allie's soul. This is great for AEW who's women's roster is still small af. With Allie the roster includes: Nyla Rose Britt Baker Sadie Gibbs Brandi Rhodes Aja Kong Bea Priestly Penelope Ford Yuka Sakazaki Kylie Rae
