T'Challa/Black Panther WON'T Be Recast for "Black Panther 2", Disney/Marvel Confirms

Honestly, I'm not sure I agree with this decision. Black Panther means a lot to the community and little black kids everywhere, and while honoring Chadwick is important, the character is bigger than him and existed before him, as it will after him. I think it would have been better to just keep telling the story as intended while maintaining the tribute to Chadwick's amazing, resonant work.

I think the main problem with recasting is that the new actor will always be in the shadow of Boseman. I feel like it wouldn’t be fair to that actor. That’s said, it is a tough decision to make whether or not to recast him.

Yeah that's understandable, but honestly it's how these things go. I think it's just a shame that a black character with such rich history and so many stories that were left to tell won't be seen for at least another 10 years. Chadwick brought the character life, so I feel like continuing it in his memory after the torch is passed would have added to his legacy and the legacy overall.

But weren’t people saying in the comics that Shuri took over the title? So why can’t they do that (despite her making herself look crazy in recent events)?

That did happen in the comics at one point, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens. That said, I think the mantle will be passed to multiple characters like M’Baku, Shuri, and maybe some other characters.

It's tricky so I can't say if it's the right call but I do feel like if the character is being retired while the MCU is still sure to go on for years and years, it doesn't really feel like honouring as much as it does going the safe route and not having to explore even more stories T'Challa specifically is in and the impact they can have. It could end up feeling like he's left behind. Black kids def don't need to see their hero disappear as quick as he was introduced and IDK if it's as simple as "the mantle can just be passed to another character."

Yeah, it's not the same honestly.
